Mark Harrington was born and raised in Brighton so has a wealth of knowledge on the area and has been in the property industry since 1983. His knowledge of the property market, lettings and acquisitions is second to none.
Mark spent the first ten years of his career as a legal executive in a solicitor’s office. He worked for three different companies gaining a wide knowledge of all legal matters. The training took him through all aspects of the legal world and eventually specialised in conveyancing. Mark’s understanding of all matters legal when it comes to landlord and tenant are extensive. Not only since his solicitor days but also having been in business since 1993. There isn’t a law that we don’t advise our landlords of whenever they come out. In 1993 Mark started Harringtons Lettings and over the years has worked tirelessly to ensure Harringtons Lettings provide a first class service to all of our customers and clients.
Mark now works full time in the Acquisitions Department. Mark has purchased in excess of 400-500 properties over the years for clients mainly dealing with investments but also developments. This extends not only to residential but commercial property and continues to do so. He advises clients on the local market and would class himself as a local market expert. He continues to make offers on behalf of clients and purchase long term properties for them all over the Brighton and Hove and Sussex area. Mark's passion has always been to purchase properties on behalf of clients. Mark oversees the overall group and ensures that the business is moving forward in this ever changing industry.
Mark owns an insurance company as well as Harringtons. This is known as iInsure 365. It is now run by Charlotte Skinner who has worked for Mark in excess of 15 years. She has a comprehensive knowledge of the insurance industry and iInsure 365 have huge amounts of property under cover in excess of a billion pound. We have recently open up a new department, property management. Mark used to manage in excess of 70 buildings some considerable time ago. But it was decided to concentrate just on lettings. However, clients have asked so many times over many years for him to take on management of properties because of poor management by previous managing agents. We are currently in the process of opening up a dedicated department for this and it will be incorporated within the Harringtons group.

Our knowledge of the local market is absolutely second to none and because we do not do any form of Estate agency we are able to fully concentrate on just dealing with Lettings. The lettings market has had in excess of 127 laws over the last 5 years so it is extremely important for our landlords and tenants that we are totally legally compliant. We advise all of our landlords on the day to day laws that they must follow so there is never any legal issues.

We are proud members of the Property Redress Scheme. This is a scheme whereby if people are unhappy they have the ability to have an independent company adjudicate on their behalf. We have never had any compliant upheld against us which we are extremely proud of. Obviously, we wouldn’t at any point want anyone to make a complaint so we work hard to try and resolve any issues immediately.
All lettings agents now have to be part of a Client Money Protection Scheme we are pleased to confirm that we are also. This means that landlords and tenants are covered in the event that any fraud took place.
